The Care & Repair office is currently closed to the public.  This measure was taken to reduce the potential spread of the virus.  Our staff are largely working from home and can be contacted by telephone or email but as much of our work involves home visits, this seriously restrict our ability to continue to provide services.

Our Small Repairs Service is largely suspended.  If you have an appointment we will be in contact in advance to confirm cancellation.  We can still proceed with external works e.g installing keysafes, replacing external light fittings/bulbs but cannot enter your home to carry out internal works.  You will appreciate that the service does not cover emergency/urgent repairs as normal anyway.  There are links on this website to Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Trusted Trader Schemes (see Services – Advice and Information Page) where you can search for local contractors for different trades including emergency repairs, but you will be charged at their rates.

Our main phone will still be answered and we can provide advice as normal.  If no one answers first time, please leave a message and we will call you back during normal working hours.

Our staff and contractors will follow social distancing guidelines and wear PPE where required.

We will update this information as necessary.

Care & Repair provides free and confidential advice and practical assistance to people who are older or have disabilities and live in Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. The aim is to enable repairs and adaptations to be carried out to allow our customers to maintain their independence and remain in their homes comfortably, safely and securely.

We have been operating since 1988 and are jointly funded by Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Councils.  We are managed by Bridgewater Housing Association and based in their offices in Erskine.

We provide a range of services (which are outlined on this website) and also work with a variety of organisations including Police Scotland, Scottish Fire & Rescue, Housing Associations, Seniors Forums, Charities and various local authority departments.  As well as providing practical help for our customers, we work with our partners to raise awareness of home safety and the dangers of cold callers and unscrupulous builders.
