Care & Repair Disabled Adaptations/Extensions

Our Small Repairs Service is available to people across all tenures including council and housing association tenants, although we cannot carry out repairs which are your landlord's responsibility. Our aim is to help those who either cannot afford the cost or find it difficult to get a contractor to carry out such minor work. We employ our own qualified joiners to carry out the works. Labour is provided free of charge and the client is asked to pay the cost of materials only. In certain circumstances we may also be able to provide materials free. We can accept donations, no matter how large or small and assure you that every penny will be re-invested in continuing to provide this service to our clients. We can assist with:
GENERAL WORKS	DOORS & WINDOWS
• Minor internal joinery repairs • Repair/replace defective kitchen units • Repair/replace broken shelves • Repair damaged walls, timber floors, skirtings, facings etc • Fit curtain rails • Turn mattresses	• Replace broken sash cords • Repair/replace internal cills • Seal frames • Ease and adjust • Repair/replace ironmongery • Fit draught excluders
SMALL ELECTRICAL REPAIRS	SMALL PLUMBING REPAIRS
• Replace defective switches, sockets and light fittings • Replace defective fuses/plugs on household appliances • Change single sockets to doubles • Change light bulbs	• Replace tap washers and inserts • Unblock sinks, baths and wash hand basins • Repair minor leaks • Bleed radiators
SECURITY	SAFETY
• Fit viewcoms, peepholes andidentislots • Fit security lights and CCTV cameras • Fit key safes • Fit additional locks, bolts and other security measures	• Fit battery operated smoke alarms • Fit CO detectors • Fit cold alarms • Reduce hazards ie fix loose carpets, trailing wires, etc

If we cannot carry out the works directly we may be able to provide advice or refer you to a reputable contractor or someone else who can assist. It is our intention to respond to enquiries as quickly as possible. As demand for the service is high, we prioritise works that pose a threat to health, safety and security. It may therefore take us longer to attend to less urgent repairs.
